Latest Activities Schedule

We like to offer our residents some fun activities at The Evergreens, whether it's being entertained by a local professional musician, some good old fashioned board games or a minibus trip to a local attraction such as one of our lovely nearby beaches or The New Forest. Here's a selection of what we've got on in addition to our regular daily activity schedule:

22nd-June - 2pm - Sammy the Shetland
30th June - 2pm - Carousel Theatre Company
13th July - 2pm - Mike Sidaway - Music Entertainer
27th July - 12pm - Minibus Outing to the New Forest

King's Coronation

The coronation of HM King Charles III will be a joyful and historic national occasion. We've got a day of celebrations planned for the King's Coronation with a special Royal Luncheon fit for a king!

We're very proud of our lead Senior Carer, Sam, who has worked very hard to achieve NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care. We encourage all of our staff to further their education and believe that it gives them the tools to provide the high standards of care that is expected at The Evergreens. Well done Sam!

Christmas Lights Residents Trip

3pm, Saturday, 3rd December

We're taking our resident's out to see the Christmas lights of Bournemouth and Westbourne, with a stop off at Poole Harbour to watch the sun go down. Buses leave at 3pm. Check out our poster here...

As part of our ongoing activities programme, we're taking our residents for a trip to the seaside to see some of the local beaches and attractions. Hopefully the weather stays fine for us, as our partner Disabled Transport provides accessible buses for our residents to ride in comfort!

5 Star Food Hygiene Rating at The Evergreens!

At the end of July, we had a surprise visit from the environmental health department, who came to carry out their regular food safety inspection and we're very pleased to say that we passed with flying colours! We maintained our highest possible score, a rating of 5 on the Food Hygiene Rating and the comments we received about our working practices were excellent. Thanks to the staff for all their hard work in upholding our standards and keeping our residents safe!

CQC Interim Report at The Evergreens

Thumbs up from CQC!

Last month we received a visit from CQC who are currently inspecting care homes to look at their infection control measures, with particular regard to how well homes have done during the Covid pandemic period. We are very pleased to say that we passed with flying colours and the CQC inspector was very complementary about our home, claiming that 'they wish every home was like The Evergreens'. The Evergreens remains a 'GOOD' home in all 5 areas of CQC lines of enquiry.

Easter Menus 2021

With the way out of lockdown planned ahead, we've got a special programme of activities and dining pleasures to keep the residents entertained and well-fed!

The Vaccination Team have visited!

15th January 2021 - We've been Vaccinated!

On 15th January 2021, the local NHS Vaccination team visited us and gave us the 1st Dose of the Oxford-Astrazeneca Vaccine.

We're hopeful that this is the first step towards getting back to normal. We expect to get the 2nd dose in mid-April, after which we may be able to review our processes and ease restrictions. Until then, we our residents remain at risk so our infection control procedures will remain as strict as they have been throughout the pandemic.

We still have our visiting cube and facilities to provide video calls via Facetime or Skype, so please give us a call and take advantage of those.

New Full Time Activities Co-ordinator - Janet

Lockdown has been a particularly difficult period for residents of Care Homes across the country, so here at The Evergreens, we've been doing what we can to minimise the impact of the pandemic. External activities had to stop earlier this year, so we put our efforts in to in-house activities and companionship, by appointing a full-time Activities Co-ordinator. Janet Southwood has taken on the role and provided an amazing lift for our residents combining activities to entertain, enhance welfare, improve dexterity and offer a sense of achievement. Janet works 5 days per week and runs a tailored programme of activities based on personal preferences and individual abilities, through group and one to one sessions. She's been a real hit and the residents often say they miss her on her days off!

Drive-through visits - a success!

We found a way to meet up again!

It was great weather for a great day!

Finally we were able to bring together our residents and their family and friends with our drive-through visiting at the end of June 2020. The happiness of being reunited was clear to see, even if it was for just a short visit. We hope to be able to offer the same drive-in visiting for special occassions such as birthdays until the lockdown ends permanently. If you are a family or friend of a relative then please get in touch to arrange a visit.

A chance to visit residents with social distancing!

The Evergreens!

We know how much you want to see your family and friends and it’s been ten long weeks since lockdown separated us all.

With all Staff and Residents testing negative for Covid 19 and ahead of the construction of our Perspex “Visitor Cube” where it will be possible to meet your family member in very close but protected proximity in our Conservatory we would like to invite you to a our Drive-thru!

As space is a bit limited in our car park and frontage we would like to hold the event on two days, THURSDAY, JUNE 25th and FRIDAY, JUNE 26th , 01202 526 925. To make the event workable we will need you to telephone us before this date and “book” your approximate time-slot. This will enable us to ensure your family member is brought to the car park when you arrive by a member of the Care team and you will be able to spend 5-10 minutes together in sight and hopefully earshot of each other!

We will have to limit the time that each car can be parked by the front door so that the next visitors can come through and hope this won’t inconvenience you.

We do hope you can join us and look forward very much to hearing from you!

We have a special day planned for when we celebrate 75 Years since VE Day. Our residents will be central to the day as we serve up a special war-time themed luncheon and reminisce about the old days, accompanied of course by some very British Gin & Tonics!

We're still Open for Business!

Your care is our business. We have a plan in place for the Covid-19 outbreak and our staff are well trained and fully prepared in the event that we suffer an outbreak. However for now, life at The Evergreens goes on as normally as possible and even during these strangest of times we hope that we can bring the usual routine of personalised care to the daily life of our residents, still serving up our notoriously great, home prepared food.

Obviously, the home is not as busy and bustling as it usually is, but we are still able to connect our residents with their loved ones via video link through Facetime and Skype.

We are currently full but if you would like further information about our offering or would like to be added to our waiting list, then please do get in touch via email or telephone and we’ll be happy to either just have a chat or be ready to answer any more detailed questions you may have about the excellent care we can provide.

Residents Trip to Shell Bay – Middle Beach

This month sees one of our highlights of the activity calendar with the annual trip on the high seas, across the Sandbanks chainlink ferry, to Shell Bay. Our intrepid residents will be enjoying a picnic lunch with fabulous views along the Studland coast towards Bournemouth and Poole as well as Old Harry’s rock.
